Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering (MPSTME) received ABET Accreditation for 5 B.Tech programs. ABET accreditation assures global standards of technical courses.
Mumbai, India: SVKM’s NMIMS’s Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering (MPSTME) received ABET Accreditation for 5 B.Tech programs. These include Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET-accredited the B.Tech courses of SVKM’s NMIMS’s MPSTME. Meanwhile, the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET recognised B.Tech (Information Technology).
With this feat, NMIMS becomes the first engineering college in Maharashtra and Western India to receive ABET accreditation for its courses. Thus, NMIMS joins the rare block of elite universities globally, to have received this honour.
ABET is the global accreditor for computing, engineering, engineering technology, applied and natural science programs that college and university offer.

ABET Accreditation: What You Should Know
ABET is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with ISO 9001:2015 certification. Till now, it has accredited 4,144 programs for 812 colleges or universities in 32 countries. As technical professionals developed ABET’s member societies, its accreditation criteria focus on students learning experience. It considers program curricula, faculty, facilities, and institutional support.
Performances in these criteria are reviewed by a team of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia, and government who have expertise in the ABET disciplines. Moreover, a voluntary peer-review process adds critical value to academic programs in technical disciplines.
ABET accreditation assures that programs meet global standards. Hence, students who opt for such courses will be ready to enter critical technical fields and become innovation leaders in emerging technologies.
Message from Pro-Vice-Chancellor, NMIMS
Speaking on this occasion, Dr Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, NMIMS shared, “Commitment to excellence in engineering education has been the hallmark of NMIMS’s MPSTME. In addition to meeting and exceeding domestic norms of education, NMIMS recently undertook an arduous effort to ensure that its programs met the global gold standards of quality in engineering education- getting the U. S. based and coveted ABET accreditation.
ABET evaluation involved careful scrutiny of what the students learned in their degree program, curriculum details, faculty qualifications, adequacy of facilities and compliance with norms expected by engineering professional societies like American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Computer Science Accreditation Board (CSAB). Accreditation of five programs is a huge achievement for the school.”
