JEE Main 2020 Paper 1 began today with exams at 660 centers across India and 8 centers abroad. The exam was conducted taking all the required precautions and following the COVID-19 Advisory for JEE Main 2020 released by NTA. 

About 85,000 students are supposed to appear for the test today at 605 JEE Main Exam Centers. The first shift has already concluded at 12:00 while the second shift started at 3:00 PM.

According to students’ JEE Main 2020 Paper Analysis for the first shift today, the exam was of moderate difficulty level. Questions were mostly from Class 11th and 12th syllabus with more number of questions from Class 12th for Physics and Chemistry.

Here are a few student reactions after the B.Tech/ B.E. Paper today i.e., September 2, 2020. 

Lucknow

Candidates in Lucknow found the JEE Main 2020 Paper 1 to be of moderate difficulty level. They were also happy with the measures taken in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rajan Singh, a student of Army Public School, SP Marg found the exam difficulty level to be between moderate and high. According to him, a few questions were tricky. The only trouble he faced was that the computer got shut down once because of which he lost about 5 minutes.

He said, “Before the exam, I was concerned about my safety. At the center, I found social distancing was properly maintained. All the candidates were made to sit at a distance from each other. Students and invigilators were wearing mask and the center was quite clean,”

Another candidate, Aman Kumar also found the paper to be of moderate difficulty level. He found six physics questions to be tricky. He was also pleased with the social distancing protocol being followed at the exam center.

Chandigarh

According to reports about 120 students appeared in the morning shift for JEE Main 2020 Paper 1 today at Chandigarh’s JEE center in Industrial Area Phase-1. Students wore a relieved look while coming out of the center. 

Chirag Bhatia one of the candidates said that he was able to nail the inorganic part of the exam because of the delay in conducting the exams. Because of the postponement of the exam he could get extra time for revision and read more reference books. 

Other students also said that the Chemistry paper was easy, however, physics was tough. According to a student Tanish Kohli, the NTA’s JEE Main sample papers were tough than the exam held today. 

Another candidate, Harsh Nagar, who had also appeared for the January attempt said that his January attempt was much better than today as he was convinced that JEE Main April/ September would be canceled.

Most of the students said that the protocols were maintained for social distancing and hygiene. Even parents were impressed with the arrangements made at the exam centers. Accordion to a parent, SP Singh, whose son had come to appear for the exam said that the organizers had done a professional job and were also not allowing any outsider inside the exam center. 

Haryana

JEE Main Paper 1 was conducted at 16 centers in nine cities in Haryana today. Students had reached their centers half an hour before the commencement of exam.

A resident of Hisar’s Dobhi village, Jatin Suthar, who enrolled in the state government\s super-100 program told one of the newspapers that he had also appeared for the JEE Main 2020 January exam and is now hoping to secure better marks than that.

Sumit Kumar another resident of Hisar said that he is sure that he would crack the exam and was happy that the exams were not further postponed or canceled. He said that the government had a year by conducting the exam and urged other JEE Main 2020 aspirants not be worried about the safety preparations at the exam centers. 

Haryana is supposed to hold JEE Main 2020 for 24,763 candidates as compared to 22,350 candidates who took the exam in January.

Bihar

Most of the students found the Physics questions to be the most difficult for JEE Main Paper 1 held in the morning shift today. Mathematics questions were of moderate difficulty level.

Akash Gupta, who took his exam at Patliputra center said that the overall exam was good however he found Physics to be the most difficult while Chemistry and Mathematics were easy.

Another student, Divya Rani who appeared for the exam in the morning shift said that the Physics questions were lengthy and time-consuming. Mathematics on the other hand was comparatively easier. She found Chemistry to be the easiest as some of the questions were directly from the NCERT book.

Overall, according to students, Physics was the toughest among the three sections in today’s exam for the morning shift. Students were able to spot direct questions from NCERT. Although Mathematics was of moderate difficulty level, students found it to be time-consuming. 

A few students also pointed out that more weightage was given to the Class 12th syllabus. Numericals were a bit difficult to solve especially for Physics while the paper was easier in comparison to the January session. 

Students said that the exam centers had strictly followed the safety protocols of social distancing.
