Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) conducted the online-offline exams for final-year degree students and around 18,000 students were marked absent or zero.
Out of the total 2.5 lakh students appeared for the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Final year examination, 18,000 students were either marked absent or have obtained zero marks for several subjects, stated the internal assessment held by the administration.
Around 10,000 students did not even log in to the system and were absent, the SPPU notified that the results of nearly 8,000 students are under review.

As the reports state, many students have complained about being marked absent for the SPPU final year exams that they took, and a lot of students claimed that they scored zero marks in exams which had gone well.
There are reports claiming that a whole batch of Commerce students from Nowrosjee Wadia College either got marked zero or absent for the Special Economics IV paper held on October 17, 2020.
The director of examinations and evaluation of SSPU, Mahesh Kakade said that after receiving a whole lot of complaints, their team had started proactively analyzing the results of students, not only of the ones who complained but a whole list of students who were marked absent or got zero was made.
He informed that the agency that was appointed for the conduction of SPPU exams, claimed that the 10,000 students who are marked absent didn’t even attempt to log in to the portal, so it was fine to mark them absent.

The result of the remaining 8,000 students are being distinctly analyzed. They stated that there might have been some technical error or login ID issue.
Karmalkar said that they are sorting out the issue and if a student had appeared for the SPPU final year exams, they would get the marks. The issue will be sorted out and necessary changes will be made accordingly within eight working days.
