New Delhi: On Friday, Supreme Court refused to direct the Central and the Indian Nursing Council to conduct additional mop-up rounds for filling in seats in Delhi nursing courses. It dismissed the pleas of St.Stephens Hospital College and Angela Biju for filling up vacant seats for the academic year 2021-22.

St.Stephen’s Hospital College and Angela Biju plead Supreme Court to allow to conduct a mop-up round for filling up nearly 110 vacant seats for the academic year 2021-22 in Delhi nursing institutions. But the vacation bench of justices M R Shah and Aniruddha Bose dismissed the pleas on the grounds that the admission process cannot remain endless.

Supreme Court Refuses to Conduct Mop-up rounds in Delhi Nursing Courses: Highlights

Admissions in Delhi Nursing courses were to end on March 31, 2022 for the academic year 2021-22.

The pleas claimed that two government nursing colleges extended the time from March 31 to May 15 and hence such a relief can be granted to St.Stephens Hospital College of Nursing as well for admissions for the academic year 2021-22.

But the vacation bench of justices denied the plea on the order that the admission process cannot continue endlessly.
