With about 25 lakh students appearing for JEE Main and NEET 2020 exams, NTA has finalized the standard operating procedures. As part of the safety protocol, there will be no frisking, staggered time slots for reporting and contact-less verification of documents.

JEE (Main) Exam 2020 is scheduled online from September 1-6 while the NEET UG 2020 offline for September 13. Students can download their JEE Main 2020 admit card released on August 17, 2020 by NTA.

On the day of the exam, students are supposed to carry a self-declaration of their COVID free health.

Three-tier measures are being followed as part of the standard operating protocol finalized by NTA. This includes pre-exam measures, the conduct of exams, and the post-exam phase.

All exam centers will keep gloves, masks, hand sanitizers, sponges/cloth, disinfectant liquid with 1% sodium hypochlorite, disinfectant backpack spray machines for sanitizing floors and walls, thermo guns and individual water bottles for staff and students as part of pre-exam measures.

Before the start of the exam, all floors and walls, gates will be disinfected. After staff verification, everyone on exam duty will wear masks and gloves. Each candidate will have to get their body temperatures checked at the entry. If the body temperature of the candidates is less than the recommended temperature, students will be moved for frisking.

If their temperatures are recorded to be more than 99.4°F, they will have to stay in isolation room till they regain a normal body temperature. Frisking and document verification for such candidates will be done 15-20 minutes later. Even after 15-20 minutes, their body temperatures do not return to normal, they will be allowed to take the exam alone in the isolated room.

Candidates will be taken to two registration rooms in batches of 15 girls and 15 boys. They will be allowed to carry face mask, gloves, a personal transparent water bottle, a small hand sanitizer and documents such as admit card and ID proof inside the examination room.

For document verification, students will keep their documents displayed on a 3 feet width table for the center supervisors to view without touching.

For JEE Main computer-based test, students will be seated on alternate seats. Odd seats would be allocated for Shift 1 and 3 while even seats for Shift 2 and 4, resulting in 50% use of the exam center capacity.

At entry points, there will be bar code readers to scan and verify the candidates’ details without physically touching their documents.

Although a letter has been written to PMO for postponement of JEE Main and NEET 2020, with admit cards released, the exams are most likely to be conducted as scheduled. Students are advised to prepare well and practice necessary hygiene etiquettes.
