The Ministry of Education officials stated that the attendance for JEE Main 2020 on Day 3 was 82.14% amid stringent precautions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Although MHRD said that most of the candidates could give JEE Main 2020 in the last three days however the state governments reported a number of absentees.

According to reports, on Day one 54.67% candidates had appeared for JEE Main 2020 B.Arch and B.Planing paper. About 81.02% candidates appeared for the JEE Main 2020 B.Tech/B.E. paper on Day 2. 

In all only 3,43,958 candidates appeared for the exam in the first three days. After today 2 more days are to be conducted on September 5 and 6.

JEE Main 2020 is the first large-scale exam that was conducted in the country amid COVID-19 pandemic. Over 9 lakh students are supposed to appear for JEE Main 2020. 

Apart from the measures taken by NTA to safely conduct JEE Main 2020, several other states have come forward to help students reach their JEE Main 2020 exam centers, provided free transport, maintain the social distancing norms while the conduct of the exam.

On the other hand, several states have reported more absentees because of rains, lack of transportation, heavy rainfall, etc. One such state is West Bengal which reported 57% students on Day 3. 

Earlier, Mamta Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal had told that 75% of students could not appear for their JEE Main exam on September 1, 2020.
