Students around 4000 from different states reached Bhopal to take exams that were supposed to be organized from June 23, only to realize that the state government has postponed the exams at the eleventh hour. 

Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya had issued the time table to conduct practical exams from June 16, while theory offline mode exams were to start from June 23.

RGPV will also start conducting final semester exams for engineering and other technical courses online from July 27

On June 15, the state government postponed the decision to organize exams for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Students, especially from other states, are now worried about the fresh dates, which are yet to be announced. Several students have mentioned that they have reached the state a few days before to manage their accommodation and food as the hostels are closed. 

"Now, tell me where should I go, we came here by train with great difficulty from UP, Bihar and other states. We were staying at friends and relatives' places. As exams are postponed, we are now stuck up in Bhopal," said a student Vinita Samuel.

Another student questioned the logic of declaring the exam schedule. "When the entire world was trying its best to avoid gathering to keep COVID away, MP went on declaring exam schedule. They had to cancel as the situation was not favorable. But at the end it is we the students who are facing trouble," said Vikrant Verma.

According to some sources, universities had informed the state government that it was not possible for them to conduct exams as even employees and teachers are not willing. 

Moreover, there is a problem of space as only 20 students were allowed to sit in class. Highly placed sources said that the government was mulling on providing general promotion to all students except final years. 

Ever since the exam dates were announced students and teachers have opposed it. Students while objecting the decision to have been citing that it could expose them to infection. Several students had even threatened to be absent from the exam and drag the government in the court.
