Tripura University gets Prof Ganga Prasad Prasain as its New Vice Chancellor after a span of one year.

At last after almost a year Tripura University got its new VC on Aug 17 2020 at an unceremonious occasion due to the current situation caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The occasion took place in a private hotel at Tripura where he has been put in quarantine.

Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain was previously working as a Commerce Professor at Manipur Central University. 

The Acting VC Prof. M.K. Singh in presence of the Dean of Academics handed over the responsibilities to the new appointed VC, Prof Prasain.

This is for the very first time, Tripura University got its VC from the North Eastern region.

The post of the Vice Chancellor at Tripura University was vacant from last September following the resignation of the then VC Prof. V.L Dharurkar.

The incident took place because of the controversy that arose during his tenure where he was caught taking bribes from a contractor which got exposed by the local news news channel of Tripura.

Prof. Prasain is an eminent academician and the authorities of Tripura University believes that the University will achieve new records under his leadership.
