New Delhi: Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Pondicherry University has recently announced its decision to offer one more chance to PG students to complete their degree course even after crossing the maximum program period.
Following the decision made by Pondicherry University DDE, students who had enrolled in M.Com, MA (English, Sociology, and Hindi) and other courses during the academic session 2014-15 to 2015-2016 will have the chance to complete their course in January 2022 session.
The chance is given to students of Pondicherry University DDE PG Course who have already exhausted their maximum period of completing their course due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country.
Professor CK Ramaiah, Director of the Directorate of Distance Education at Pondicherry University stated that the decision to extend the period for courses was made after reviewing several requests submitted by students for the same.

"We received a lot of requests from students over the pandemic time to allow them one last chance to complete the degree. The university collectively felt that we can help our students in these tough times by helping them finish their degrees which will help them get a job" he added.
While talking about the decision, Assistant Registrar of the University K Mahesh stated that under the directions of DDE, students of 2005-2006 to 2015-2016 sessions at Pondicherry University MBA will also have the option to complete their course.
Those students who meet the criteria and wish to complete their program in the January 2022 session are now requested to submit their re-registration form at https://dde.pondiuni.edu.in. The last date to submit the re-registration for the course is January 21, 2022.
The re-registration fee per student for the January 2022 session is INR 5,000. Students can pay the application fee and additional examination fee through online and offline means. Interested applicants are requested to submit their fees on or before January 25, 2022.
Re-registration applications submitted after the given deadline; January 21, 2022, will not be accepted by the examination authority. Therefore students are advised to submit the registration form and fee for the same as per the given schedule.
As for the PU MBA Course, students have to write an equivalent paper to complete their program as per the new syllabus released on the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) official website.
Earlier, Pondicherry University offered students two special chances to appear for PU Examinations in the 2020 session due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The announcement was made for courses under the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) and twinning programs.
