Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch nine medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh today, October 25, 2021. A number of development projects costing more than Rs 5200 crore in Varanasi will also be inaugurated by him.

The medical colleges to be inaugurated are in Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, and Jaunpur. Eight medical colleges have been approved under the centrally supported scheme for "Establishment of new medical colleges affiliated to district/ referral hospitals," while the state government has made one medical college in Jaunpur operational using its own funds.
The official notification stated, “PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission will be one of the largest pan-India schemes for strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the country. It will be in addition to the National Health Mission”.
Priority will be given to underserved, backward, and aspirational areas under the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. The project intends to expand the availability of health professionals, address the existing geographical imbalance in the distribution of medical colleges, and properly utilise the existing infrastructure of district hospitals. As per the three phases of the scheme, 157 new medical colleges have been sanctioned across the country in three phases of the project, with 63 of them operational.
Earlier, while talking about UP MBBS Admission 2021, CM Yogi Adityanath stated that admissions in new colleges might start from the 2021-22 academic session for all candidates. More information regarding the same will be released soon by the authority.
The new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh state will add a pool of medical resources in the state, which will increase the overall medical facilities offered to people. The colleges will offer admission seats through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), he further stated.
CM Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the public representatives and officials of the state to inspect the preparation of Inauguration. During the meeting, he inspected the place and all preparations required for a successful inauguration event.
In 2019, the state government announced the construction of medical colleges in the Siddharthnagar district. With this announcement, the state government started the necessary preparation for medical colleges, which has now come to end.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The inauguration event for the same was held on September 14, 2021.
During the event, PM Modi also announced the launch of the Defence Industrial Corridor in the Aligarh, Agra, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, and Lucknow nodes. The step has been taken to promote the 'Make in India' tagline, he added.
