New Delhi: The OP Jindal Global University (JGU) has recently signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Spain to offer a native Spanish language lecturer to teach Spanish language, culture, and literature.
The MoU was signed between OP Jindal Global University’s Jindal School of Languages and Literature (JSLL), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and the Spanish Ministry of External Affairs (MAEC) on April 18, 2022.

The collaborative event was held in the presence of His Excellency Jose Maria Ridao Dominguez, Ambassador, Embassy of Spain in India, and Alfonso Perez-Hernandez Egert, First Secretary, Embassy of Spain.
Talking about the collaboration, the Founding Vice-Chancellor of OP Jindal Global University, Professor (Dr) C Raj Kumar said, "The MOU demonstrates the commitment of JGU and JSLL to advancing the study of Hispanic literature and cultures in India".

"JSLL is proud to join the burgeoning field of Hispanic studies in IndiaThe number of Spanish speakers in the world today exceeds 500 million. Students in JSLL will be able to make the most of the wide-ranging teaching expertise of Indian and foreign faculty members possessing the highest level of language training and proficiency" he further added.
Under the collaboration, students of Jindal School of Languages and Literature, JSLL will have the opportunity to receive specialized training in teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) as a part of long-term academic collaboration between the parties.
Additionally, OP Jindal Global University will offer students B.A. (Hons.) Spanish program from the academic session 2022-2025. The program is specially designed to provide Spanish lectors/Lectora about communicative and socio-pragmatic competencies for students.
Talking about the course, Professor (Dr) Denys Leighton, Dean, Jindal School of Languages and Literature, JGU said, "Students of the B.A. (Hons.) Spanish program will receive excellent instruction by Indian and international Hispanists at JGU and will benefit from a rich learning environment"
He added that with this initiative, P Jindal Global University will work towards offering a Study Abroad experience to students in a Spanish-speaking country. This opportunity will be provided to students as a part of their B.A. (Hons.) Spanish course study at campus.
In addition to collaboration with the Government of Spain, JGU has also signed agreements of cooperation with 22 prestigious higher education institutions in Spanish-speaking countries - including the University of Granada, and the University of Salamanca.
Additionally, the University of Chile and the National University of Colombia have also joined hands with JGU to offer unique opportunities to experience Hispanidad through linguistic and cultural immersion to students of the university.
