NLSIU Banglore successfully conducted NLAT 2020 on September 12, 2020. The entrance was conducted in three batches for undergraduate admission and a single batch for PG LLM admission. NLAT 2020 was a 45-minute test held across 35 cities as both home-based and center-based exam. 

According to a tweet made by NLSIU Banglore on its official twitter account, an overall attendance of over 94% was recorded today for NLAT 2020. 

Based on the initial NLAT 2020 Paper Analysis, students gave a mixed reaction to the exam held today. Many students stated that they had to face technical glitches and verification problems, face and voice recognition failure, etc. 

According to Bar and Bench, over 125 emails, 700 WhatsApp and 175 Telegram responses related to technical glitches were received. Most of the students were not able to login and had also taken to Twitter to share their plight.

Soon after the completion of exam, NLSIU also released the provisional answer keys. Final NLAT answer keys are to be released on September 15, 2020.

NLAT 2020 Paper Analysis

  • With no major changes, the syllabus was similar to that of CLAT 2020
  • The exam pattern was different from the other law entrances.
  • Passages were quite lengthy and time-consuming.
  • Students struggled with time management as they only had one attempt to answer the questions.
  • The level of difficulty was different for every section. The quantitative techniques and logical reasoning sections were the most difficult. 
  • Students complained about the technical glitches and the exam software to be faulty. It took more than the allotted time for the students to settle down and start the exam.
  • A few of the students were not even able to appear for the exam since the verification process took more than an hour.

NLAT UG 2020 Cutoff

The expected undergraduate NLAT 2020 cutoff will be 55 according to the reports. The NLAT 2020 cutoff would be the last rank that would be accepted for provisional admission at NLSIU Banglore.

Various factors are taken into consideration while determining the NLAT 2020 cutoff such as sanctioned seat intake, category of the candidate and the total number of applicants. Students scoring equal to the NLSIU Bangalore cutoff in the opted category and the preferred course will be eligible for admission while those ranked below the cutoff rank gets eliminated from the admission procedure.

After receiving a number of complaints by students and parents about NLAT 2020, NLSIU announced that students who faced technical difficulties can raise a query by 12 noon on September 13, 2020. Students can login to admissions.nls.ac.in to raise their complaints.

The provisional answer keys for NLAT re-test were also released shortly after the conclusion of the exam on the official website. Although the Supreme Court has accepted NLSIU’s decision to hold a separate admission test, it has directed the university to abstain from releasing the NLAT 2020 result. The court has also directed that no admission must be done on the basis of NLAT 2020.
