New Delhi: The Swachhata Action Plan of the Ministry of Education has awarded a grant of INR 41 lakh to the Centre for Energy Studies of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur for the management of the e-waste project.

According to the project's chief investigator, Mamta Awasthi, the project intends to build a market chain in the NIT Hamirpur and a scalable small-scale business model for managing e-waste with the help of the Centre for Energy Studies.

Earlier, NIT Hamirpur organised its 13th convocation on the campus, in which a total of 1,172 graduates received degrees. The event's chief guest was Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN).

In addition to this, SJVN and NIT Hamirpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the SJVN Chair Professorship and conduct research and development (R&D) activities in the field of power development.

SJVN provided INR 40 lakh as part of the MoU to establish the SJVN Chair Professorship at the institution. According to him, SJVN is proactive and willing to work with NIT Hamirpur students on any research project in the areas of hydro, solar, wind, consulting, green hydrogen, etc.
