New Delhi: The Union home ministry on Tuesday said it has initiated steps to fill up vacancies in its various departments on a mission mode, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's instructions to recruit 10 lakh people in all central government departments over the next year and a half.

The Education Minister has encouraged the institute to fill vacancies in order to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of hiring 10 lakh individuals in various government sectors in the next year and a half.

"Overviewed a presentation on the academic activities and future strategy of at NIT Hamirpur HP with Director Prof. H.M. Suryawanshi and other prominent academics of the institute earlier today," Pradhan posted on Twitter.

"I have encouraged at NIT Hamirpur HP to fast-track the recruitment process and fill all teaching and non-teaching openings at the earliest," Pradhan said, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mandate to fill 10 lakh vacancies in mission mode in the next 1.5 years.

The minister of education also emphasized the importance of making the educational system multidisciplinary. "We need to make our education multidisciplinary," Pradhan remarked. At NIT Hamirpur HP should support liberal arts, Himalayan architecture and crafts, and hydro projects, among other things."

He also stressed that NIT Hamirpur should also engage in skill development and strengthen skilling in frontier and emerging areas.
