NIT Durgapur will conduct an Online Convocation on January 12 due to the pandemic. Graduating students will receive the certificates at home online in an 'animated mode'

NIT Durgapur has revealed that in this animated mode, the head of the department will send the scanned copy of the certificate to the students through the computer screens. Only the director, deans, members of the institute, the board of governors, and some senior officials will inaugurate the ceremony inside the campus auditorium.

A total number of  663 people will be awarded undergraduate degrees, 311 postgraduate degrees, and 128 doctorate degrees.

An NIT official remarked that the animated mode is available on computers and smartphones. The degree recipients can attend the ceremony by logging in from a desktop, laptop, or smartphone through the link shared with them. 

Another NIT official explained that when the name of a recipient will be announced, the name and picture of the recipient will pop up in the designated panel on the screen. The degree will be awarded to the recipients along with the medals and prizes in an animated mode by the HODs.

The director of NIT Anupam Basu disclosed that due to the pandemic authorities have decided to avoid any Assembly for safety reasons and organize the convocation on virtual mode.

NIT will dispatch the hard copies to the recipient's residential addresses. The event will be streamed live on Youtube and Facebook. Distinguished Alumnus Awards will be awarded to Bikramjit Basu, Subir Kumar Saha, and Jyotiprasad Bhattacharya.
