National Institute of Technology (NIT), Andhra Pradesh, has welcomed the new batch of B.Tech students to its newly opened 174-acre campus, located adjacent to the Chennai-Kolkata Highway (NH-16) in Tadepalligudem, West Godavari district.
The new academic campus has been built by the NIT Andhra Pradesh at an estimated cost of INR 438 crore. The campus has been especially opened for the JEE rank-holders.
The campus is well-equipped with hostels, canteens and student recreation centre, with several rooms housing all the 17 existing clubs. It has provision to establish more clubs as well.
According to the reports, every building in the campus has been named after prominent historical personalities. The new campus has been constructed with prefabrication construction technology and green building techniques have been used for construction, for which the NIT AP received a platinum rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
In the second phase of infrastructure development of NIT AP, Faculty and staff quarters, international hostels and bachelor accommodation for PhD scholars and researchers will be made available.
Speaking about the new academic campus, CSP Rao, Director, NIT AP compared NIT AP with other NITs and said that NIT Andhra Pradesh is the only institute which is well-occupied with its own building blocks and hostel accommodations.
It's a pride for NIT AP and it will be an amazing scenario when the academic block is filled with students and staff. The institute hopes to welcome the freshers for the physical classes, he added.
Further, the institute has Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Administrative Building and two classroom complexes, named after Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, and Madan Mohan Malaviya.

There are two labs named after A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and C.V. Raman and the new library will be called the B.R. Ambedkar Central Library, Rao said.
NIT Andhra Pradesh has a well-facilitated auditorium inside the campus premises, that can house nearly 1,100 people, which is named after Rabindranath Tagore. Dhyanchand Sports Complex, Mother Teresa hospital complex, and Netaji Indoor Sports Complex are some of the sports centres inside the campus.
Currently, the institute offers BTech, MTech, PhD and MS programmes and has recently invited full-time and part-time applications for PhD and MS (by research).
NIT Andhra Pradesh Courses 2021
NIT AP and a group of state-run universities across the state have also recently formed a “regional education cluster group” to promote research and development programmes together. They will be jointly working on mentorship and cooperation, joint research, student and faculty exchange programmes, joint academic programmes.
In order to form the cluster group, NIT Andhra Pradesh has partnered with Dr. YSR Horticulture University, Tadepalligudem; Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada; and Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry.
