New Delhi: As per the latest updates, National Testing Agency has revised the eligibility criteria of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG 2023) for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). Following this update, the OCI aspirants are now eligible for all seats.
Earlier, the OCI candidates were only eligible to apply for UG admission under Non-Resident Indian (NRI) or supernumerary seats through NEET UG 2023. However, the authority has now announced that these candidates can get admission to all UG programs.
Informing about this decision, NTA’s official notification reads that OCI candidates will be eligible for admission to the UG Medical/Dental/Ayurveda/ Unani/Siddha/ Homeopathy Courses in India subject to the rules/regulations/notifications issued by the respective regulatory bodies.
This step has been taken under the Policy Decision of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and/or the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Interested candidates can check the detailed notification by visiting the official website of NTA NEET UG at neet.nta.nic.in.
The existing provision for OCI candidates provided in NEET UG 2023 information bulletin says that candidates who fall under OCI category will be treated as foreigners. They will not be considered for seats reserved for Indian nationals including paid deemed university seats.
While the revised NEET UG 2023 Eligibility Criteria for OCI candidates added that these students are now eligible for admission to all medical undergraduate courses (including Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) Courses in India.
In other news, NTA is inviting applications for NEET UG 2023 in online mode only through the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. Interested and eligible candidates can register for NEET UG 2023 by submitting their application form latest by April 6, 2023.
