NEET UG 2022: Eligibility Criteria Revised, Upper Age Limit Removed from Exam

As per the revised criteria, the commission has removed the upper age limit criteria for candidates who wish to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2022

Earlier, the age limit for applications belonging to the general category was set to 25 years, while for SC and OBC candidates the upper age limit under NEET UG Eligibility Criteria was 30 years.

With this, candidates from all categories who wish to appear for the national-level medical entrance examination can register for the same by submitting their NEET UG Application 2022 form on the official website of the exam authority.

The decision to revise the NEET UG exam eligibility criteria came after a meeting held with the exam authority. The age limit was removed with the approval from the Chairperson of NMC, Dr. Suresh Chandra Sharma.

While talking about the changes in NEET-UG eligibility criteria, Union Health Minister, Manshukh Mandviya officially tweeted, "the National Medical Commission removes the fixed upper age limit for appearing in the NEET-UG examination".

"The decision will immensely benefit aspiring doctors and further help in strengthening medical education in the country" the tweet further reads.

Following the changes in eligibility, the examination authority is now preparing to release the official notification for NEET 2022 soon. Candidates who are planning on appearing for the exam are advised to keep a tab on NTA's official website; neet.nta.nic.in.
