Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 85-90 per cent of 15.97 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET 2020 exam. Candidates who missed the COVID-19 positive test will have another opportunity to sit for the test on October 14, 2020.

NEET 2020 Cutoff Likely to be Higher this Year
In its latest notification, the National Testing Agency ( NTA) has clearly stated that the results for NEET 2020 will be announced on 16 October.
NEET 2020 was usually released a month after the examination because the authorities decided to conduct a re-test for candidates who were unable to take the test because of the situation with COVID-19 in India.
In the notification, NTA stated that a combined NEET 2020 Result would be released for both Phase I and Phase II of the exam.
Experts suggest that the NEET 2020 cut-off will be higher compared to previous years due to the extra time the students have had for preparation.
To support this, they cite the example of a reputed coaching institute claiming that by scoring 720 marks this year, one of their students will break all records.
On September 13, NEET 2020 was conducted. Nearly 85% of those who applied for the examination was able to take the test on that test date, according to the statistics shared by NTA.
The remaining 15% were students who were either living in containment zones or infected with COVID-19. As NEET is the only medical entrance test for UG admissions in India, it would have resulted in the loss of an academic year for such students if they were not able to appear for it this year.
Therefore, the NEET 2020 re-test has been carried out. On October 16, a combined NEET 2020 result will be announced.
