The Centre and National Board of Education (NBE) have informed the Supreme Court today that NEET SS 2021 will be conducted as per the old exam pattern. As per the old NEET SS exam pattern, 60% marks are from specialty and 40% from generic feeder courses.
The Centre announced the decision a day after it declared to defer NEET SS 2021 by two months. NEET SS 2021 was scheduled to be conducted in November 2021. But now it will be conducted on January 10 and 11, 2022.

The Centre has said that the new exam pattern which was subjected to various challenges will be implemented from the next academic year onwards. As per the new NEET SS exam pattern released by the conducting body, the whole question paper will be prepared based on general medicine.
The decision to implement the changes in the NEET SS exam pattern from next year has been taken in consultation with the National Board of Examinations (NBE) and National Medical Commission (NMC) to ensure that the students who have been preparing for NEET SS 2021 are not affected by the new exam pattern.
The SC disposed off the petitions challenging the changes made to NEE SS 2021 Exam Pattern. It added that “We Clarify since UOI has taken Decision to hold NEET SS Scheduled for November 2021 on basis of erstwhile pattern which held the field, it is not necessary for the court to decide the validity of pattern for 2022-23. That issue is kept open.”
NEET SS 2021 will now be conducted on January 10, 11, 2021 as per the previous pattern only.

NEET SS 2021 is a national-level exam. It is conducted for admissions to various DM/M.Ch (Doctorate of Medicine/Magister Chirurgiae) courses. The exam will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode in two parts from 02:00 to 05:00 PM. The aspirants can register for the same till October 12, 2021 (11:55 pm).
