The center has decided to postpone NEET SS 2021. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on November 13 and 14, 2021. After the recent decision, NEET SS 2021 exam will be conducted on January 10 and 11, 2022.
The exam has been postponed by two months to provide the aspirants with an ample amount of time to study for the exam according to the new NEET SS exam pattern. This decision was taken after 41 postgraduate doctors approached the Supreme Court challenging the abrupt ‘last-minute changes’ in the exam pattern of NEET SS 2021.

The plea said aspirants have been preparing in terms of the pattern that has been in place for the last three years. This is especially relevant as in 2018 and 2019 when modifications in the pattern/scheme were proposed to be made, the changes were made public almost six months prior to the exam.
Earlier, the exam used to carry 60% marks from the specialty courses and 40% marks from generic feeder courses. However, as per the proposed pattern, the entirety of questions for the critical care super-specialty will be drawn from generic medicines. It is alleged that the exam pattern for NEET-SS 2021 has been modified only to favor those who have done post-graduation in general medicine.
The Supreme Court had on 27 September pulled up the National Board of Examination (NBE), and National Medical Commission (NMC) for making the changes and said, “We cannot let the young doctors be at the mercy of the insensitive bureaucrats”.
