NEET (UG) result 2020 has been declared and students of both Northern and Southern states dominated.

NTA released the NEET 2020 Results and in the North, Delhi and Haryana have been observed to register 70% qualification.

Delhi has registered the highest qualification percentage of 75.49% with respect to the candidates appearing from that region.

Haryana registered 72.9% of qualifications and other Northern states such as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh have registered over 60% qualification.

Candidates could check the top 10 state-wise qualification percentage in the following tabulation.

In the south, Kerala and Karnataka have registered over 60% of qualifications. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have observed a drop in the qualification percentage when compared to previous years.

95,752 students appeared for NEET in Rajasthan and 68.68% qualification has been observed by Rajasthan.

Soyeb Aftab, one of the All India Toppers who spent two years in Rajasthan for coaching appeared as a top ranker in the Odisha state toppers list.

Vineet Sharma who got ranked fourth in All India Ranking said that the school syllabus has helped him to score well. Hence experts felt that success in the state is also because of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education.

Dr. Bharat Saran who is a medical officer in Government Medical College said that all his 45 students who appeared for NEET have qualified out of which 11 students will study in Government Medical College.

The performance of candidates from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is the downside this year when compared to the previous years.

The qualification percentage of Andhra Pradesh dropped down to 58.63% from 70.72% in 2019. Telangana registered a drop in qualification percentage to 59.15% from 67.44% in 2019.

Experts stated that the lack of continuous monitoring and students being stuck in remote areas with no resource is the main reason for the low qualification percentage when compared to previous years.

Faculty running NEET program for Corporate Institutes in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh stated that only 2000 to 3000 students who have registered were in contact with them.

Kumar, Executive Dean of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions said, “Unlike students from the north, our students are used to being monitored and guided continuously. Due to Covid-19, this was missing. There was no motivation for them to continue with their preparation."

Chemistry Faculty of Narayana Group, Ashoka Kumar Veda, said, “A majority of institutes managed to conduct classes even during the lockdown as they are not intermediate colleges. 

Further, the number of candidates who opt for the long term or taking NEET for the second time will be hardly 10% in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh whereas in other parts the number is huge."
