New Delhi: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has approved the reduction of the qualifying cut-off marks for NEET PG 2022, by 25%, providing major relief to MBBS doctors seeking PG medical admissions this year.
The qualifying cut-off marks for the NEET PG 2022 has been lowered by 25 percentile. A notification in this regard has been issued by the health ministry notice.
The notice revealed that the revised qualifying percentile/cutoff for general category candidates would be 25 percentile, for people with disabilities in the general category (PWD-general) it would be 20 percentile, and for both the SC/ST/OBC and people with disabilities in the SC/ST/OBC category it would be 15 percentile, according to the health ministry notice issued to this effect.
The decision was made in light of the fact that several seats became vacant during the PG counselling session held for the previous academic year.
According to the latest reports, the reduction in cut-off marks will be by 25 percentile across all categories and the decision has been taken based on recommendations by the National Medical Commission (NMC), who also suggested lowering the qualifying percentage for post-graduate programmes for 2022 during a meeting on October 14.
In the last session, over 1,400 seats were still vacant, mostly in pre- and para-clinical topics. A decision has been made to lower the cut-off for admission to post-graduate courses for 2022 23 by 25 percentile across all categories, an official source said.
The reports stated that the post-graduate seats going vacant is a sheer wastage of resources in a country where postgraduate medical seats are premium.
Recently, the Health Ministry also decreased the cutoff for NEET MDS admissions this year. For each category (General, SC/ST/OBC, and UR-PWD), the qualifying cut-off percentile for NEET MDS 2022 was decreased by 25.714 percentile.
The new session of PG Medical Courses for the academic year 2022 will begin on October 20, 2022. Interested candidates are advised to go through the following counselling schedule:
