New Delhi: Over 15,000 medical candidates wrote to PM Narendra Modi, appealing him to postpone the NEET-PG 2022 exam by 10 weeks which is scheduled for May 21, 2022.
The memorandum was drafted by students from around the country through various groups and associations, citing its clash with the ongoing counselling for NEET PG 2021. The candidates have written to the PMO requesting an appointment to discuss their concerns, as well as permission to hold a "peaceful protest" on Sunday at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The memorandum stated, "The counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for NEET PG 2021 has been made null and void seven times. As per the latest notification from MCC, May 7 is the last date for admission into PG courses. But, the registration for NEET PG 2022 was closed on March 25, 2022".
Aspirants are claiming that they are now worried as a result of this sudden notice and the INI-CET test planned for May 8. As they will be unable to take the exam and attend counselling at the same time.
Aspirants also recalled their earlier experiences, claiming that the exam had been postponed a few days before the exam and that the authorities should prevent similar situations in the future.
“That situation negatively affects our mental health. So, instead of postponing the exam two days before the exam day, why not announce the postponement right now? That way, we can relax and prepare for our exams without any haste or panic. This will help our mental health and also positively affect our professional life,” said Dr Vibhu Anand.
Federation of All India Medical Association, United Doctors Front Association, All India Medical Students' Association, and NCR Parents' Association, among others, represented the applicants.
