Abdul Azeez, general secretary of Kerala Muslim Culture Centre (KMCC, Qatar filed a Public Interested Litigation (PIL) from Kozhikode.

The PIL was filed at the Kerala High Court by his advocates, Haris Beeran and Nuriya OA. PIL seeks directives from central governments to facilitate additional exam centres for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 in the Middle East.

This is in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak when people are maintaining social distancing and avoiding long travels.

As a fact, NEET aspirants will be unable to travel to exam centres scheduled to be held on July 26, 2020, by avoiding quarantine requirements.

The PIL contends that decision to hold NEET by its conducting body National Testing Agency (NTA) when abroad students are stranded is discriminatory.

The PIL further states that conducting this examination without considering facilities for students of the Middle East is arbitrary and violates the fundamental rights of these students.

The students have been preparing from the past 2-3 years only to appear for this exam. Additionally, a lot of money has been invested in coaching the students for the same.

A hearing on the PIL had been scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
