NEET Counselling 2020: Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued NEET Counselling 2020 stray vacancy round guidelines for admission to MBBS and BDS courses 2020-21.

Counselling for NEET 2020 is held in 4 phases including the stray vacancy round by Deemed or Central Universities and Central Institutes, AIIMS and JIPMER. MCC then forwards lists of registered and eligible candidates to respective institutes for allotment based on merit.

However, MCC is not responsible for wrong allotments made during stray vacancy rounds for NEET 2020 Counselling. Candidates need to check eligibility criteria of respective institutions before they apply.

MCC’s official guidelines read:

“MCC of DGHS, MoHFW will forward the list of Candidates equaling to ten times the number of vacant seats to the medical college in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Writ Petition(s) (Civil) No(s). 267/2017 Dar-Us-Slam Educational Trust and Ors. V/s Medical Council of India and Ors. Only those candidates whose name will be present in the merit list of Candidates provided by MCC shall be eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round.”

NEET Counselling 2020: Stray Vacancy Round Guidelines

Following are the guidelines issued by MCC for NEET 2020 stray vacancy round:

  1. No fresh registrations will be accepted in the stray round.
  2. Colleges need to display their eligibility criteria on the official website way before the stray round commences, so that candidates make informed decisions.
  3. Participating colleges should provide adequate time for conducting stray round and fee payment. Accordingly, rules and regulations need to be largely publicised in advance.
  4. Candidates should be allowed to register online without charging additional registration fee. However, physical attendance at assigned institutions is required for admission and document verification.
  5. Candidates need to upload details on IntraMCC portal of college authorities. 
  6. Colleges need to carry out a transparent seat allotment process and CCTV footages of admission and stray round allotment process have to be maintained.
  7. NRI seats can be allotted to candidates who are mentioned in the NRI list uploaded on MCC’s website: mcc.nic.in. Candidates whose names do not feature in the list, need to be sent to MCC at nri.adgmemcc1@gmail.com before allotting. Seats will be allotted after checking eligibility. 
  8. Stray Round seat allotment will be displayed on the official website and colleges need to maintain COVID-19 precautions as well.
  9. Colleges will be responsible for legal complications or enquiry on merit violation or mistakes. 

MCC has also issued NEET UG Counselling 2020 Stray Round Schedule for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. Official notice by MCC reads, “As per Letter No. NMC/Legal/2020/(10310)/126961 dated 24.12.2020 the last date of admission in MBBS Course for the academic session 2020-21 has been extended till 15th January 2021.”

Candidates need to report to the respective colleges from January 7-15, 2021 for the counselling and admission process. Following this, the new session is expected to begin from February 2, 2021.
