The Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal extended appreciation to the various local authorities for the smooth conduct of the NEET exam.
NEET 2020 was conducted on 13th September with the attendance percentage recorded around 85% - 90%. Around 13.57 Lakh students appeared for the NEET exam during the COVID crisis.

The Minister on September 15, 2020, took to Twitter to appraise the deepest efforts of people who helped the students and teachers to conduct the medical exam in the safest way possible.
During such hard times, the education minister showered his thankful note to all the state government, peons, security guards as well as various health and sanitization workers who ensured the safety of the candidates.

The NTA (National Testing Agency) which is the head authority of conducting the exam mentioned that over 16 Lakh students were registered for NEET 2020. The results for the medical admission exam are likely to be declared in the last week of September.
Meanwhile, NEET 2020 recorded a high attendance rate despite the pandemic, surpassing JEE Main figures. The Education Minister tweeted late on Sunday, revealing the data as released by NTA.
Among the 1.5 lakh candidates who registered for the NEET 2020, 85% to 90% of them took the tests across 3,843 exam centres in the country.
He tweeted, “NTA informed me that around 85-90% of students appeared in the #NEET exam today. I sincerely thank all Chief Ministers and @DG_NTA for proper arrangements made to facilitate student participation.

With many students appearing for the exams, some candidates wasted their one year by not appearing for the exams. Most of the students who didn’t appear for the exams had a safety concern amidst the virus outbreak.
There were about 2.7 Lakh teachers in 3862 examination centres who were present for the exam to invigilate and ensure fair conduct of the exam.
