National Testing Agency has concluded the NEET exam at 5 pm. The exam was held at 3842 centres in 155 cities. A total of 15.97 lakh students have reportedly appeared for the NEET exam held from 2 to 5. NEET 2020: Exam Analysis

NEET 2020 question paper codes are out. The paper codes are E, F, G and H. Following the conduct of the examination, it has come into light that students found the paper ranging from difficult to moderate.

As per the reactions of the students, it is to be known that not many students found the NEET 2020 question paper easy. Candidates found Biology, and Chemistry questions relatively easy. However, questions from the physics section were relatively tough admitted a large number of students.

Aspirants found that the NEET 2020 questions were tricky and analytical in nature and have highlighted that the cut-off may go higher than last year. It is to be noted that while NEET-UG cutoff for MBBS was as given, the BDS cutoff was lowered by NTA at a later stage.

  • Direct questions were asked for Physics from the sections Energy, Mass, Newtons Laws of Motion. 
  • Most of the questions from physics were formula based. 
  • The weightage of questions from Mechanics is highest i.e. 16 questions and from Optics & Modern Physics 10 questions were there. ​
  • The weightage of the Botany section was more in comparison to other sections. 
  • 11 questions each from Genetic & Evolution, and Ecology topics were there in NEET 2020 Question Paper. 
  • All the 3 subsections i.e. Organic, Inorganic, and Physical chemistry has an equal number of questions in the paper. 
  • Most of the questions were directly from the NCERT syllabus.

NEET 2020; Students’ Reaction

Students who wrote the NEET 2020 exam have given mixed regarding the difficulty of paper, arrangements and following the SOP’s directed by the Union of Health Ministry. While coming out of the examination centres, students on being asked about the question paper said that the NEET 2020 had tricky and analytical questions.

Majority of the students answered that Biology was the easiest section while Chemistry was in between easy-moderate. On the other hand, students reported that the physics section was relatively tough and they had a hard time solving the questions.

On being asked about the expected cut-off this year, a group of students stated that the cut-off is likely to be higher as compared to the previous year. On being asked about reaching the centre and arrangements provided, majority of the candidates said that protocols and SOP guidelines were followed at the examination centre.

While some students, especially from the north part of the nation, expressed that social distancing was not followed. It has been seen that while some students were satisfied with the arrangements and the SOP’s followed at their respective centres, others had a different opinion.

NEET 2020; NTA Arrangements at Examination Centres

NTA had provided new masks to the NEET candidates before entering the examination room and allowed students to remove hand gloves while they were writing the exam. However, it was mandatory for the candidates to wear the face mask during the conduct of the examination.

NTA Arrangements: Inside the Examination Room, Exam Protocols

  • Examination centre authorities allowed Only the front page of NEET 2020 admit card to be carried in the examination room and removed other items
  • Videos recording was done of candidates, for which first NEET roll number was captured and then candidates face.
  • Candidates had to sanitize their hands as soon as they entered the exam hall.
  • NEET OMR sheet, pen, and the rough sheet was given at 1:50 PM, to be opened at 1:55 PM
  • Attendance was marked by signing twice on the attendance sheet and pasting photographs and writing question paper numbers. 
  • NEET 2020 exam was started at 2:00 PM with 12 candidates in one room
  • Two invigilators were present in one examination room
  • Details regarding the NEET 2020 exam centres were written at the exam board for the candidate's convenience. 
  • Before leaving the NEET exam hall, aspirants have to give their signature

NEET 2020: Items Allowed 

NTA had specified the below-mentioned documents, which every aspirant had to carry at the NEET exam centre before reaching the examination centre.

  • Original copy of NEET 2020 admit card
  • Mask on face and gloves on hand
  • Personal small hand sanitizer (50 ml)
  • Personal transparent water bottle
  • Identification Proof (Aadhaar card, Ration card, Passport, PAN card, Driving license, Voter ID or other government authorized document)
  • A passport size photograph to be pasted on the attendance sheet
  • PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category.
  • Scribe (Letter of Undertaking of using own scribe), if applicable. The Scribe should carry a self undertaking, a COVID related undertaking (same proforma), photo ID to the exam centre
