New Delhi: Mumbai University (MU) has launched a Master's degree program in Hindu Studies for the academic session 2022-23. The course will be offered by its newly-established center for Hindu Abhyas Kendra along the lines of the Oxford Center for Hindu Studies.
As per Mumbai University, the MA in Hindu Studies course will be open to all interested students who wish to pursue their education in Hindu Studies and learn in-depth about Hinduism. Admission for this course will start in July 2022 for graduates from any stream.
Referring to Mumbai University Course, Dr. Ravikant Sangurde, director (in-charge), Center for Hindu studies said, “This course will be useful to corporates to develop commitment, dedication, and motivation among their employees. It will also teach preliminary Sanskrit".
MA in Hindu studies will aim to introduce participants to the key principles of Hindu dharma as well as ontology, epistemology, and the art of argumentation among other concepts. Students will have an opportunity to learn Sanskrit from top faculty members of the university.
The course will be facilitated by the center for Hindu studies (Hindu Abhyas Kendra) and taught by the Faculty of Arts of Mumbai University. This interdisciplinary course will be offered in line with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which offers students multiple entry and exit options.
As of now, there are only 60 seats available under Mumbai University Admission 2022 for this course. Shortlisted candidates will attend the classes at Bajaj Bhavan located at Mumbai University’s Vidyanagri campus in Kalina.
Talking about the center, Dr. Ravikant Sangurde said, “Hindu dharma cannot be narrowed down to ritualistic practices. It stands for universal peace and brotherhood and believes in peaceful co-existence of diverse thoughts, beliefs, ideas, and practices".
"The values of considering all entities, living and nonliving, as the form of one Supreme Being, the world as one family will be the key focus of this center" he further added.
