Institute of Open and Distance Learning (IDOL), Mumbai University has conducted the final examination for arts and commerce students on October 26, 2020. 

To conduct the final examination of IDOL, Mumbai University, the students were divided into smaller groups by the distance education provider.

A total of 4,202 students appeared for the online examination which is around 84% of the students.

BA examination was held in the morning session and the Mumbai University, IDOL witnessed 3,049 students appearing for the arts exam.

The institute held the B.Com examination in the afternoon session and witnessed 1,153 students taking the online examination.

The exams could be taken from mobile phones with a camera or laptop/ desktop computers.

In order to prevent all the students from logging in at the same time, 4 hours time slot was given to each examination.

Hence the students could log in at their preferred one-hour time slot and need not log in at the same time.

The Mumbai University authorities announced that because of this one hour time slot, the examination was conducted smoothly.

For the smooth conduction of IDOL exams, Mumbai University had hired a Pune based new edtech firm, Splashgain Technology to conduct the Institute of open and distance learning (IDOL) examinations. 

The edtech firm Splashgain Technology uses remote proctoring on its platform named Eklavvya. There were around 5 companies that had applied under the new tender MU floated. Out of which 3 firms were shortlisted by the technical committee and later this Pune based firm was selected as this was the cheapest amongst all.
