New Delhi: Almost 99% of the approximately 6000 MBBS 2nd year students from the 2019 batch of the MUHS reappeared for the Microbiology theory paper I exam on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS), Nasik, conducted the exam across 41 centres in India. MUHS arranged this examination after there was a rumour regarding an exam paper setter. The earlier exam was conducted on March 11, 2022.
“The attendance percentage of the examinees on Saturday was good, given the fact that during the online opinion sought from all these examinees, only 13% had expressed willingness to re-write the exam. This shows that the examinees are serious about exams even if they have to re-write a paper”, as stated by the MUHS officials.
Dr. Ajit Pathak, the university’s Controller of Examinations, explained that under the supervision and guidance of the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, Lt. Gen Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar (Retired), the examination was conducted without any hitch.
Dr. Pathak has explained further that only 63 examinees did not appear for the exam. There was no reporting of any discrepancy in the question paper such as question errors, spelling mistakes or so from any of the examination centres.
The examination duration was three hours and it began at 10:30 a.m.
MUHS was compelled to conduct the re-examination even if there was no leaking of question paper as the exam paper setter used the same set of questions for an internal examination conducted 4 months prior to the Microbiology theory paper I exam. The exam paper setter was a medical college faculty and used the questions in his college.
Co-incidentally the MUHS and exam coordination randomly selected the same set of questions.
Upon being informed of this issue, the VC immediately conducted a meeting of the Board of Examinations on March 12, 2022. The decision was made to conduct a re-exam to protect the integrity and transparent values of the university. Most of the Deans of the colleges also supported this decision.
