New Delhi: Marwadi University has been awarded the prestigious Centre of Excellence (CoE) status by the State Government of Gujarat. This is primarily to recognize the university’s rigorous and continuous commitment to innovating learning and practice.

The event was organised by the Education Department, the Government of Gujarat and globally recognized universities under the aegis of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022. 

Prior to conferring this status, Marwadi University was assessed by an expert committee on 9 core parameters: Infrastructure, Students, Academics, Examination, Faculty, Research, Consultancy and Extension Services. 

The university is known for offering the very best in class education, combining the professional industry and academia, providing the students with global knowledge exposure and enabling them to be the next generation leaders across multiple disciplines.

The university was granted this prestigious status by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendrabhai Patel. Jitubhai Vaghani, the Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of Education & Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India, Kuberbhai Dindor, Minister of State, Higher and Technical Education, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs, Gujarat, Kirtisinh Vaghela, Minister of State, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education, Brijesh Mirza, Panchayat Minister, Gujarat were present during the felicitation ceremony. 

Some other eminent personalities such as S. J. Haider, IAS Principal Secretary, M. Nagarajan, Commissioner Higher Education, G T Pandya, Director of Technical Education were also present during the ceremony, conducted during the International Conference for Academic Institutions (ICAI) 2022 in Ahmedabad. 

Marwadi University: Only Institution from Rajkot to Receive CoE Status

Marwadi University is not just the only institution from Rajkot along with the entire Saurashtra region to receive this CoE status, but also the youngest and fastest-growing among all the beneficiary universities. Spread across a 50 acre campus, MU includes more than 10,000 students from 40 countries, enrolled in various UG and PG programmes offered by 500+ brilliant educators including 110+ PhD faculty.

Appreciating the award, Sandeep Sancheti, the Vice-Chancellor of Marwadi University stated that receiving this prestigious status is a source of pride and happiness for the university.

Centre of Excellence (CoE) status is a recognition awarded to universities as per the guidelines issued by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). CoE refers to a team or facility or an entity that offers leadership, significant practises, research, support and training for a specifically focused area. As per the official statement, CoE includes specific benefits. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Receiving support for conducting research in specific sectors with special focus on the emerging technologies
  • Bridging the gap between academia and professional industry to upskill the students
  • Upgrading the receiving centre’s technical capacity and information architecture
  • Receiving support for creative and innovative research proposals in terms of facilities and functions
  • Creating network among the nearby institutes for capacity building and mentoring support
  • Leading towards a possible establishment of an entrepreneurship cell.
