Manipal Institute of Technology, MIT Manipal has announced the cancellation of the end semester examination for B.Tech students due to Covid-19 surge in the country.
As per the notice released by MIT Manipal on June 08, 2021, the end semester exam, which was scheduled to commence through online mode from June, has now been cancelled for all VI, IV, and II semesters B.Tech students. The institute had arrived at this decision in the wake of numerous requests sent by students and parents with regards to cancelling exams.
MIT Manipal End Semester Exam 2021: Marking Scheme
As the end semester exams for B.Tech students stand cancelled, MIT has come up with a marking scheme in lieu of it. Accordingly, students will be awarded theoretical exam scores based on their performance in internal assessment in the previous classes for the ongoing semester.
In case a student is not satisfied with his/her results, they will be provided with an option to apply for improvement of grades in the theoretical examination. Students will have to appear for Grade Improvement Examination (GIE), and accordingly, grades will be allotted to them.
MIT Grade Improvement Examination (GIE) 2021 will be held online for all registered students. The examination is scheduled for the first week of August 2021. Students must note that the better of two grades will be reflected in their grade sheet. For those students who wish to appear for the improvement examination, a detailed schedule will be released for them to check shortly.
MIT official letter reads, "Due to the numerous requests received from students and parents, the university has decided to consider providing relief to students from appearing for the end semester examination of the ongoing semester. The institute has always been sensitive to genuine concerns of our dear students and have always supported and helped them" the letter further reads.
The final decision on exam cancellation was taken by the exam authority after the consultation with the stakeholders. Referring to the exam cancellation, an MIT student said, “I’m very relieved that the college decided to cancel our exams. I will have proper time to study for my placement and focus on my internship”.
