New Delhi: Mahindra University signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Tech Mahindra in order to set up a new ‘Makers lab’. This lab will work for research and development in quantum computing, explainable artificial intelligence, and Metaverse. 

Mahindra University Collaborates with Tech Mahindra to Start Lab for Metaverse, XAI, and Quantum Computing

As per reports, Tech Mahindra has 10 makers labs across the globe. The one set up at Mahindra University is their 11th initiative in the world and second in Hyderabad. 

The partnership will also offer the students of Mahindra University to work on IPs prepared in the Makers lab and get placed in R&D projects on campus. The students will also work together with coding groups like ‘Enigma’ and get access to internships, projects, and placements. The selection process of the students for the collaboration will be facilitated by the university and Tech Mahindra. 

The MoU was signed at Mahindra University’s First Annual Convocation. Senior officials and dignitaries were present such as KT Rama Rao, Cabinet Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Municipal Administration & Urban Development, and Industries & Commerce Department of Telangana; Dr Krishna Ella, Chairman & MD, Bharat Biotech International Limited, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group; CP Gurnani, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), Tech Mahindra; Dr Y Medury, Vice Chancellor, Mahindra University, among others. The partnership will fuel co-innovation by leveraging next-gen technologies.

The MoU will combine Tech Mahindra’s technological expertise and Mahindra University’s strong experience in the educational sector to build an exemplary institution at the Hyderabad campus, in the form of the Makers lab. The lab will be a frontrunner in boosting innovation and R&D to democratize access to high-quality education.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mahindra University Vice Chancellor Yajulu Medury said that "one of the best things about the MoU is that it is an academia-industry collaboration."

"We have a lot of faculty in quantum physics, AI area, etc but this is actually work getting channelized into the forefront of industry-driven areas. Whether you talk about quantum computing, 5G, our faculty is now able to work with Tech Mahindra Makers Lab and other people and look at various ways of actually taking more industry-oriented work," said the VC. 

"As a part of the partnership, the students of Mahindra University will get an opportunity to work on intellectual properties made within the Makers Lab and get deployed in R&D projects on the campus," he further added.
