Kolkata Colleges: Students who have taken multiple admission in different Kolkata colleges are now asked to give explanations for reimbursement of admission fees. Candidates need to put the exact date of admission and cancellation on the form to get their fees refunded.
Many principals have issued cancellation forms for those students who want to claim a refund of the admission fees. The students need to specify the reason behind their admission to multiple Kolkata colleges and blocking seats for others after repeatedly asking them to clear paths if they are not interested.
Students have subsequently reserved seats for a long time and now there is a huge portion of vacant seats to be filled up in the Kolkata colleges.
Almost one-third of the seats at UG level are empty this year. Students in the need of the best college have applied in multiple colleges and have eventually cancelled their admission, leading to vacancies.
Principal of Maulana Azad College has said that students need to write an explanatory statement for their cancellation and are required to submit the documents along with admission and cancellation receipts.
The university has issued a notice stating no penalties will be applied to these students, however, the students were asked to submit an undertaking about how many Kolkata colleges they had taken admission in the month of November.
Principal of Vivekananda College and President of Calcutta University chapter of All Bengal Principals' Council said that the reputation of government colleges is at stake when there is a huge number of vacancies created because of admission cancellation.

The authority needs to know the reason why the applicants choose to reserve their seats when they were not interested in pursuing those particular subjects in the first place.
Several colleges like Lady Brabourne College (LBC), Bethune College, Kolkata, SA Jaipuria College, Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration initially filled up maximum seats, but now have 25%-30% vacant seats. While Basanti Devi College recorded 40% empty seats in the academic year.
Following this, the Government later allowed these Kolkata colleges to open a window from December 1-16 to fill the remaining seats.
