Kirori Mal College (KMC) has decided to facilitate Tokyo paralympics medal winners, Yogesh Kathuniya and Sharad Kumar, today, on September 30, 2021. 

Both were the alumni of the Kirori Mal College (KMC) and will be felicitated for winning a silver and a bronze medal at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. 

Alumni of Kirori Mal College, Sharad Kumar and Yogesh Kathuniya represented India at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, where, Yogesh Kathuniya won a Silver medal in the Men’s Discus throw and Sharad Kumar jumped to 1.83m and won a bronze medal for the country.

Furthermore, the KMC will set up a Centre for Disability Research and Training, with an objective to encourage academic engagement and development with disability and facilitate disability studies as a valid field of academic inquiry. 

According to the reports, the Kirori Mal College will conduct the felicitation ceremony today; September 30, 2021, in the Academic Auditorium at the KMC campus. 

The KMC officials announced that as a part of the endeavor, the institute will be taking care of all the assistive devices, namely, digital recorders, tablets, refreshable braille display and laptops to 28 of its undergraduate students. This is done to create a level playing field and promote inclusion in the KMC campus. 

On September 18, the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal met the Para-High-Jumper Sharad Kumar, who jumped 1.83m and won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, at the Delhi Secretariat. The Chief Minister lauded Sharad Kumar for his stellar performance that had made the entire India proud.
