JoSAA has released the 6th round of seat allotment on 7 November 2020. Candidates will be allotted seats according to the preferred choices and the ranks bagged by them in the qualifying examination. 

Seats will be allotted by the authorities of JoSAA in institutes like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

Since all 6 rounds for JoSAA Counselling 2020 have been concluded, CSAB will commence the seat allotment for IIITs, NITs and GFTIs from November 17, 2020. 

The list as well as the allotment letter will be available on the official website form where the candidate can check and download it.

JoSAA 2020: How to check the seat allotment? 

Step 1: Visit the official website at josaa.nic.in

Step 2: From the homepage, click on ‘View seat allotment result of round 6’ 

Step 3: Enter the login credentials such as application number and password

Step 4: The seat allotment result will appear on the screen 

Candidate can also download the seat allotment letter for future references.

JoSAA 2020: What to do After Seat Allotment? 

The candidates who have been allotted the seats have the following options with which they can proceed. 

  • Freeze - Candidates who are willing to accept the allotted seat can choose the freeze option and proceed with the further admission procedure of the respective institute. 
  • Float - Candidates who are not satisfied with the seat allotment can choose the option of float and wait for better options in the subsequent rounds. However, the candidate has to pay the seat acceptance fees. 
  • Slide - Candidates who wish to for a better course allotment in the same institute in which they have been allotted seats can choose this option. In this case, too, the candidate has to pay the seat acceptance fees. 

Candidates must note that the float and slide option can be used only by those students who have not been allotted institutes according to their fiesta choice. Furthermore, this option won’t be available for the last round of counselling.

All these processes along with seat acceptance fee payment will take place online. Candidates of the general category must pay a fee of Rs. 45000 whereas reserved category must pay Rs.20,000 to confirm their seats.
