Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren urged National Testing Agency (NTA) to postpone both JEE Main and NEET 2020 that is scheduled to be held in September 2020.
While attending a virtual meeting with several states, the CM of Jharkhand voiced his opinion. The meeting was also attended by Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey, Chief Minister of Puducherry V Narayanasamy and Punjab CM Amarinder Singh.

State Chief Ministers oppose NTA Decision to conduct exams
As per reports, about 24 lakh students registered to appear in JEE Main and NEET 2020 exams, this year. The decision of the National Testing Agency to conduct exams amid the pandemic has been opposed by Chief Ministers of many states including West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
The NTA claimed it has made elaborate arrangements for students from doubling the number of exam centres allotted for JEE Main and NEET 2020 to creating a safer and hygienic environment for students.
Smaller section of students demanding postponement
Earlier, education minister of Gujarat, Bhuoendrasinh Chudasama, stated that GUJCET 2020 was held with maximum attendance from students. The attendance also conforms only a smaller section of the student population are demanding postponement of exams.
Meanwhile, the state government of Madhya Pradesh has confirmed that the state is prepared to take NEET and JEE Main in September 2020.
