The Supreme Court will hear two-sets of plea on JEE Main and NEET 2020 exam postponement today i.e. August 17, 2020. The plea will be heard by the Supreme Court Bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra.

The  Plea was filed on August 6, 2020, by 11 students belonging to 11 states  while another plea was filed challenging any further delay in conducting the entrance examinations, as it would affect the academic calendar and delay the admission process further.

The National level engineering and Medical entrance exams JEE Main 2020  and NEET 2020 are scheduled to be held in first and second week of September 2020.

The advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava stated in a plea “While deciding to conduct the JEE Main 2020 and NEET UG 2020 exams in September, the respondent have overlooked that many states have refused to allow conducting of any professional or non-professional exams in their states at this stage and hence the same is expected to cause harassment to the petitioners and other situated students.”

Earlier,  Gujarat Parent’s Association has also filed a plea to the apex court  seeking relief from any further delay in conducting these entrance examinations. Read More

The petition stated that, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the entrance exams have been delayed multiple times causing loss of time from the academic year of the students. It also stated that the constant delay in the exam causes mental stress to students.
