JEE Main 2023: Eligibility Criteria Relaxed

NTA has modified the JEE Main 2023 eligibility criteria. The Ministry of Education decided that in addition to scoring 75% or higher in Class 12, students from the top 20 percentile of all boards will be eligible to seek admission based on their JEE-Main score.

The decision has come as a relief to students hoping to appear for the JEE Main 2023 Exam. This relaxation will allow students to compete for seats in top IITs and NITs since the JEE-Advanced already has this requirement.

Informing about the changes in JEE Main 2023 Eligibility Criteria, the officials said, "The 20 percentile criteria will help those candidates who are short of 75% aggregate in their class 12 boards”.

“Discussions were held and since many of the top 20 percentile candidates in a number of state boards score below 75 per cent marks or 350 marks, the ministry decided that if a candidate is in the top 20 percentile he or she is eligible”, the official said.

JEE Main 2023: Exam City Slip & Admit Card

Before the release of JEE Main 2023 admit card, the NTA will issue exam city information slip for all candidates. This is scheduled for the second week of January (which means on or before January 14, 2023).

Earlier, in the exam notice, the NTA notified that the JEE Main 2023 admit card will be issued by the third week of January 2023. Candidates are advised to keep a tab on the official exam portal for the latest admit card-related updates.

The JEE Main 2023 admit card will be released separately for each session on the official website. It consists of details such as the centre address, JEE main 2023 exam dates and timing, personal details, guidelines and other information.

All the candidates will have to carry their JEE Main 2023 admit card along with a valid ID proof while reporting to the exam centre. Without a valid JEE Main 2023 admit card, the students will not be permitted to enter the exam hall.
