The Alumni Associations of IIT’s have announced that they will help JEE Main 2020 candidates reach their examination centers through a portal called ‘eduride’. Any JEE Main 2020 applicant whose exam center falls in a low connectivity area and who need transportation support can reach out through the portal. 

Through this portal, ‘eduride’ JEE Main 2020 candidates can register online or call at a listed number requesting a ride to the exam center. 

The idea came into place after a lot of JEE Main and NEET aspirants raised their concern regarding travel due to lack of transportation and IIT Delhi Director Ramgopal Rao took the matter to his concern asking the alumni association of IIT Delhi to help students reach their exam center.

Soon after, IIT Bombay and IIT Madras and some independent volunteers also joined the IIT Delhi Alumni Association (IITDA).

How to use ‘eduride’?

To request for a ride through ‘eduride’ candidates are required to visit www.eduride.in. Students then need to register themselves as ‘Student’.

Details such as student’s exam center, email and mobile numbers would be required. A request can then be raised.

Alternatively, students can also give a call on 9311323756 between 10 am to 5 pm on August 31 (Monday). 

JEE Main 2020 will be held from 1 to 6 September across 605 examination centers for B.Tech, and 489 centers for B.Arch and B.Planning. 858,273 candidates have registered for JEE Main and as of now, 749,508 candidates have downloaded their admit cards.

How can people volunteer to help JEE, NEET candidates? 

Interested IIT alumni and other independent volunteers who want to help JEE and NEET candidates can register at eduride.in and register themselves as ‘IIT Alumni/ Volunteer’. They can either take the candidate to the exam center or donate to facilitate cab service. 

The ‘eduride’ portal is led by Rohit Koshy (Past President of IITDAA) and Sanskar Jain (IIT Bombay Alumnus) along with a group of IIT Delhi alumni that includes Kalpen Shukla, Shantanu Mathur, Mukul Singla, Amit Grover, Sanjay Kedia, Parmesh Ranjan, Saksham and a team of IIT Madras alumni led by Swadeep Pillarisetti.

There have been growing protests against giving JEE in September. However, the Ministry of Education has averred that delaying the examinations further could lead to a zero-academic year. Consequently, all the examinations will be given according to schedule in September. The National Testing Agency has also assured candidates that safety measures will be followed.
