New Delhi: IIT Bombay, followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur have consistently retained their positions as the most preferred institutes among the top 1000 rank holders of JEE Advanced 2022 during the JoSAA counselling session over the past five years.
As per the statistics of JEE Advanced from session 2016 to 2020, the top 1000 rank holders prefer IIT Bombay as their institute of choice for admissions. Followed by this, IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur have secured their positions as the second most preferred institutions among students.
Analyzing the data, IIT Kharagpur was the most preferred institute among JEE Advanced candidates from 2016 to 2018, while from 2019 onwards, the place has been overtaken by IIT Madras. A total of 107 have opted for IIT Madras and 100 have chosen IIT-K in 2019.

For the 2020 session, IIT Bombay has come out as the most preferred institute for JEE Advanced rankers with 188 students, while 162 students have chosen IIT Delhi, 98 have selected IIT Kanpur, and 35-35 students have preferred IIT Roorkee and IIT BHU.
In addition to this, among the top IITs in India, IIT Madras has secured its top ranking in the National Ranking of Higher Education Institutions, also known as NIRF 2022 released by the Education Minister. IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay are in the top 2nd and 3rd positions.
This year, candidates who appeared for JEE Advanced 2022 will be selected for a total of 16,598 admission seats for graduation courses in all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India, out of which 1,567 supernumerary seats are reserved for female candidates.
As per the JEE Advanced 2022 Schedule, the entrance exam was held on August 28, 2022, in various exam centers across India. The result for the same is scheduled to be announced on September 11, 2022 (today), at 10 am for all registered candidates to check.
