IIT Joint Admission Board (JAB) Committee has released an important announcement regarding JEE Advanced 2022. According to this, candidates who were unable to appear for the IIT-JEE entrance exam in two sessions of 2020 and 2021, are eligible to directly reappear in 2022. 

The qualifying criteria of acing the JEE Main Exam has been set aside for such candidates, as they would have already qualified it in the previous sessions, but were unable to attempt the JEE Advanced 2022 exam owing to covid-19 circumstances. 

The important announcement reveals that candidates who couldn't attempt the IIT-JEE Entrance exam due to covid-19 related reasons will now be allowed to reappear in the 2022 session.

JEE Advanced 2022: Relaxation in Qualifying Criteria

As per the latest relaxation announcement, the qualifying criteria of JEE Advanced 2022 for the regular candidates has not been changed, i.e, they have to qualify the JEE Main exam of the same session. 

Whereas the eligibility norm has been relaxed for candidates who have qualified JEE Main, either in 2020 or 2021 sessions but were unable to appear for JEE Advanced in the respective years.

JEE Advanced 2022: Additional Attempt for Re-appearing Candidates

In addition to the third attempt, it should be noted that candidates who had qualified JEE Main Exam in 2020 or 2021 sessions but didn’t sit for JEE Advanced, the attempt they make to qualify JEE this time will be considered as an additional attempt and not as regular. 

According to the official statement released by the JEE exam authority, Candidates who appeared in class 12th (or equivalent) exam for the first time in 2020 or 2021, and have successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2021 but couldn't attempt both paper 1 and paper 2, of JEE (Advanced) 2021, are eligible to directly appear for JEE (Advanced) 2022.

JEE Advanced 2022: One-Time Measure for Pandemic Affected Candidates

Candidates must note that the important announcement regarding the relaxation in eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2022 is a one-time measure only for this session, which is available only for the pandemic-affected students. 

Although these provisions will ease the qualifying eligibility criteria and attempt numbers of JEE Advanced 2022, candidates applying under this should complete the regular online registration and pay the requisite registration fee for JEE Advanced 2022, as a regular candidate.
