According to the statement issued by the institute, the curriculum of the BTech course was designed to lay a core foundation with a wide basket of electives in materials engineering that would be ideally suited for those interested students to explore opportunities, or a combination of the two, in both basic sciences and engineering.

IIT Delhi mentioned in a statement that the courses covered include the relationships between structure and properties in different material classes, including metals, polymers, electronic materials, and biomaterials.

The concepts learned in the programme can be used to quantify the essential characteristics of engineering materials and guide the design of new materials for structural and functional applications, the statement added.
