Jamia Millia Islamia University in collaboration with Jamia Hamdard University will push for medical courses in the coming years, says Vice Chancellor in the Centenary Celebration.

The chief guest Hamid Ahmed congratulated JMI for the centenary foundation celebration on October 29, 2020, and said that JMI and Jamia Hamdard University can collaborate in setting up Medical and Unani colleges and hospitals.

The centenary celebration of JMI has many restrictions because of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic and only a few faculty members participated in it.

Jamia school students sang the Jamia Tarana or the Jamia Anthem in the absence of Jamia University students.

A documentary was screened on the event with comments from famous personalities associated with the University such as Sharmila Tagore.

Comments of alumni like former Indian Cricketer Virendra Shewag, filmmaker Kabir Khan and former Indian Hockey player Devesh Chauhan were also added in the documentary.

Vice Chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar stated that JMI is a unique institution which believes in the philosophy of action and sets sloth and laziness aside.

"This is the reason that it has been coming off with flying colors in achieving the latest educational aims and ideals set by the nation and the community," Professor Najma Akhtar said.

She also stated that JMI will collaborate with Jamia Hamdard University to introduce a program in Unani medicine to push medicine courses in the coming years.

JMI has embraced the idea of co-education and will plan to introduce more courses to girl students, stated the Vice Chancellor.
