The Joint Admission Board (JAB) in a meeting conducted today i.e on October 13 has decided to allow candidates who were unable to appear for the JEE Advanced 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to appear for the JEE Advanced 2021 without appearing for JEE Mains 2021.
The candidates who were unable to attend the JEE Advanced 2020 exam held on September 27 will be allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2021 or will be given 3rd attempt, confirmed the JAB.

The Organising Institute of JEE Advanced 2020, IIT Delhi and the IIT Council organised an emergency virtual meeting to discuss the matter raised by the students who were restricted from appearing in the JEE Advanced 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation.

The JAB in the meeting took all the possible clarifications to look into this matter and has decided to allow the candidates who successfully registered for the JEE Advanced 2020 but were absent in the exam, to be allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2021 without appearing/qualifying JEE Mains 2021 as a one time measure.

Further in the meeting, it has been decided that the eligibility criteria in this case will be in addition to that of the relaxation bar.
Apart from this, it has been agreed that these candidates would be considered additional to that of the total number of seats available for the JEE Mains 2021 and JEE Advanced 2021.
Thus, this would not be the part of the total numbers of candidates qualified in both JEE Mains and Advanced 2021.
