New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna has successfully organised a three-day online Continuous Education Program (CEP) titled “Resource Optimization in Process Industries” from February 17 to February 19, 2023.
As per IIT Patna, the three-day program was organised jointly by the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and the Department of Mathematics of the institute. The program was attended by over 50 participants from around the country.
The IIT Patna Convex Optimization Principles (CEP) course is concentrated on the fundamentals of convex optimisation, and evolutionary as well as gradient algorithms, which are used for modelling and finding solutions to issues that arise in real life and industry.
In addition to this, the program aims to provide a platform for examining and debating all elements of resource utilisation in process industries, including the processes system engineering and integration fields.
The course organisers, Dr B. B. Upadhyay and Dr Nitin Dutt Chaturvedi gave introductory remarks at the beginning of the lecture on the first day. The class ended with a talk given by Professor Santanu Bandyopadhyay from IIT Bombay.
In his presentation, Professor Bandyopadhyay discussed various approaches and algorithms on the topics of energy or water conservation and sustainable development with participants.
Academics such as Professor S K Neogy, Head of the ISI Delhi Centre, Professor Joydeep Dutta of IIT Kanpur, and Professor A K Agrawal of the IIT BHU shared their wisdom and insights with the attendees throughout the conference
The event began with an inauguration ceremony, during which Professors Asif Ekbal (A Dean Resource), Nutan K. Tomar (Head of the Department of Mathematics), and Sushant Kumar (Head of CBE Department) gave opening remarks.
