New Delhi: IIT Patna hosted an international conference on 6G wireless mobile communications for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The two-day conference included topics related to 6G wireless and mobile communications, including network development and knowledge expansion.

As per IIT Patna, during the event participants talked about a variety of issues, including the need for awareness and training programmes to prevent cyberattacks, potential 6G technologies, and other difficulties, advantages and dimensions of 6G.

Additionally, the international conference included an industry-academia roundtable that was attended by experts from academia, industry and government. Amit Kumar Singh, an assistant professor at IIT Patna, presided over the meeting and shared his opinions on various topics.

Mahesh Abegaonkar of IIT Delhi, Preetam Kumar of IIT Patna, Abdul Kayum, Deputy Director General of the Department of Telecommunications of Government of India, Amit Mannan, Vice president of Samsung India, Mudit Goyal, and Rajdeep Yadav, Vice President of Radisys Corporation, all expressed their opinions at the conference.

The panellists spoke in-depth about the 6G wireless and mobile communications and advised the researchers to concentrate on sustainability and income creation in order to make India independent in the upcoming telecom sector.

In addition to this, Mahesh Abegaonkar talked about how high-frequency data transmission might affect people's bodies while denying any risks. He continued by saying that while there is a large spectrum available, as frequency rises, the range of data transfers diminishes.

Abdul Kayum contributed to the conversation by mentioning the utilisation of millimetre wave and terahertz in 6G to offer consumers extremely fast data speeds and the necessity to lower the cost of deploying such technologies.

Amit Mannan also spoke on potential 6G technologies, citing themes like split computing, satellite networks, metamaterials, haptic internet, and reconfigurable smart surfaces as being helpful in overcoming 6G-related obstacles. He also provided a brief outline of the 6G research projects being worked on globally.
