New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur, has inaugurated a 4 year BS Programme instead of 5 year integrated MSc programme in 2022, with 6 specialisations including applied geology, economics, exploration geophysics, mathematics chemistry, computing, and physics. Admission to the programme will be based on JEE Score.
Candidates seeking to get an MS degree from IIT-KGP will have the option to do so at the end of Semester 6 of the 4 year BS programme. In this manner, the 7th and 8th semesters will be planned so that a candidate can earn an MS degree at the end of the 10th semester (end of year 5).

- Candidates must have completed class 12 or equivalent in the Science stream.

IIT KGP BS Programme: Course Structure
Candidates intending to pursue a degree in the IIT-KGP BS programme must be aware of the subjects being taught in the courses, which are mentioned below.
- Eight semesters will make up the six courses required for the BS specialisation.
- The first and second semesters of each of the six BS courses will have the same curriculum.
- In semesters 1 and 2, students will learn a total of 18 basic disciplines, including, among others, chemistry, electrical technology, physics of waves, science of living systems, programming, and data structures.
- However, beginning with semester 3, the curriculum is modified. The students will be taught about 8 to 9 "deep core" subjects in semesters 3 and 4. In semesters 5 and 6, there will be seven to eight core subjects and two electives.
- A summer internship and a project are both options offered by the curriculum in semester 7.
- The majority of Semester 8 is a combination of a project and a mix of core and elective courses.
