The Novel Industry 4.0 Technology will provide real-time information regarding the welding process of multiple sensors. It will also enable online control of weld quality with the help of cloud-based communication with friction stir welding technologies.
The innovation is developed with the association of TCS by the Centre of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing Technology professor in-charge, Mr. Surjya K Pal at IIT Kharagpur.
Referring to the technology development, Surjya K Pal, professor in-charge stated that welding is one of the main processes of any industrial operations. If the department can somehow improve the standards of weld quality in real-time then it will reduce the rejections of post-production checks.

He further added that the multiple sensor processor induced a different single process. It also includes machine learning techniques in order to predict the tensile strength of the weld joint fabricated.
The technology developed by IIT Kharagpur and TCS is widely connected with experimental information to ensure the standard system. The Novel Industry 4.0 Technology is made to predict the joint strength of the weld.
This has set the course for remotely controlled operations in the Indian industrial sector along with real-time quality check and correction during the production process thus achieving standardized production quality goals, reducing batch rejections and lowering costs (3/n)

He explained that the system will send the modified parameter to the machine, and thus the Novel Industry 4.0 Technology will ensure the quality process and standardization of the monitoring process.
The advanced Novel Industry 4.0 Technology can be evolved further to help the real time control of the industrial process. The research work will be done at the center of the university in accordance with industrial partners in the upcoming time, added Surjya K Pal.
“This will make it possible for industrial houses to achieve standardized quality goals throughout the production process and reduce rejection hence lowering the cost of production,” the DST said in a statement" The Department further added.
The Department of Science and Technology of IIT Kharagpur stated that the Novel Industry 4.0 Technology has improved the remotely controlled operations in the Indian industrial sector. The technology has also made real-time quality checks and corrections possible during the time of the production process.
